Who am I and why am I here?
Online, not existentially
First things first
My name’s Dave and I’m the founder of Entensa, a women’s athletic apparel brand that started as an idea and turned into an attempt to build something that actually matters, both for its customers and the world around us.
I'm also a runner and someone who questions almost everything. Most of what I write here lives in one of two worlds — the science of running and fitness, and some of the lessons I've learned from building a business from scratch. Different subjects, same approach: dig into the question honestly, follow the evidence wherever it leads, and say so when something doesn't make sense.
Factoids
- I exist on turkey sandwiches and veggie smoothies
- Jack of many trades and possessor of unique knowledge, sometimes bordering on weird.
- Always open to being corrected constructively in tasks or opinions. After all, how boring is life if you refuse to learn new things?
- I do love to laugh but you'll never see me smile in pictures -- my eyes and mouth are both small, which makes for really awkward-looking images.
Life Philosophies
- Whether it’s true or not, always having the mindset of being the dumbest person in the room is rarely a bad thing.
- If I don’t know a lot about something, that’s my cue to shut the heck up and listen to those who do.
- Forming an opinion about something while not having an understanding and appreciation for the opposing viewpoint is a really bad idea.
- People typically conduct themselves in ways that make sense to them.
- Political opinions don’t define people.
- Roadblocks are not stop signs, they’re merely detours to more creative and often better solutions.
- Mangos make veggie smoothies taste amazing.
